For more than 150 years
conventional, site-built construction has
basically stayed the same. Nail guns and
power saws may have replaced handsaws and
hammers, and the crane-truck the horse drawn
wagon, but the inadequacy of only starting
the building process when materials arrive
on-site principally continues.
At Systems-Built
Industries we’re affecting change. We’re
bringing the process of construction largely
indoors; moving it away from the inefficient
job-site and onto the precision-built ‘shop
floor’.
We found the answer in
the world of factory-pre-fab, more
specifically, the greater efficiency offered
by our namesake “systems-built”
building contingent:
“Fully
code-compliant buildings produced, in
whole or in part, in a quality and
climate controlled production
environment – delivered directly to the
building site.”
But systems-built
construction is not without its own
challenges. For the most part the sector is
made up of single-system manufacturers, many
with uninspiring product lines. Others,
e.g., heavy timber artisans, are so remotely
located it requires a major undertaking to
do business. Therefore, despite the
advantages of higher quality, more efficient
production, better tradesperson sequencing,
superior security, and lower environmental
impact, system-built products have as
yet not been fully accepted by the
mainstream.
Our solution:
“Value Added
Industry-Product Integration & Local
Market Exposure”
Physically developing
service-territory specific ‘product
integration facilities’, and local market “Showcase
Venues”, our design-driven process melds
the abilities of two industry rivals. It
attends to the uncertain quality and long
lead times of site-built
construction, concurrently challenging the
high level of fragmentation, product line
limitations, and lack of consumer awareness,
that characterizes plant production – i.e.,
the systems-built building industry.
This forms a symbiotic relationship. Both
production and on-site installation are
required. Now, one former rival becomes a
resource to the other. The end result is
well presented by fully appointed Showcase
Homes or Presentation Centres.
We emerged from an eight
year development process. Our roots lie in
the heavy architectural timber industry,
where we learned that plant-based
construction held great advantage over its
weather exposed and site-constricted
counterpart. Invited to blend our timber
product within conventional construction
exposed both industry need and opportunity.
In response, we approach
each project in holistic fashion; market
positioned as a producer and distributor of
single, multi-family, and mixed-use
commercial buildings. This matches
requirements to capabilities: systems-built
design flexibility, enhanced by our product
integration. Advantaged by the benefits of “shop
floor” production, this delivers the
same end result as traditional on-site
construction in less time and, in most
cases, at lower cost, directly
site-delivered by:
